Hello,
I know a bit about working on cars, but nothing on boat engines.
I was given a (maybe 1999) 4 stroke 9.9 yamaha, looks very clean but won't start. Gas is good, battery is good, turning over well. I removed the spark plugs, placed them to a paint free sectin of the engine, turned it over, no spark. Check wiring from kill switch and safety lanyard, both were good. Some post somewhere mention unhooking white wire (safety lanyard) still no spark. cleaned and checked all connects, nothting! so now what? I have read about testing the coal using a fluke voltmeter, I can get access to one if someone can guide me through the step-step procedure. Is there anything I'm missing before I jump the conclusion of a bad coil?
Thanks for your help.
Ryan
