This is a 2002 motor with 22 hours on it, the low oil pressure bar on the yamaha indicator/ tach/ hour guage started blinking.
Not knowing more than the basic manual, I checked the oil, which was at the proper level.
I next changed the oil and filter for the second time, ( the first time was at the 10 hour mark ) to be sure the filter wasn't clogged....two things..

the oil was very dark, is this still break in issues?

the low oil blinking bar blinks even when I turn the key in the on position. seems as if the sensor was tripped and needs to be reset. is this possible? can it be reset?

the engine starts nicely, runs nicely, is quiet, cooling system is seemingly normal. and there are no noises to be noted.

i have found this message board very educational, problem solving is the best way to learn. thanx!

The low oil pressure and temp. bars are supposed to blink when the key is turned to the on position. They should stop once the motor is started.

I see you have that F60 on an 18' boat. I was curious, what is your top speed/rpm and what size and pitch prop are you using.

Re: Yamaha 4 stroke 60 low pressure indicator

i was not clear! the light still blinks after the motor is started! please help me make it go away!

the prop is really a loaded question, and i do have some answers.

this is a single engine application catamaran, total weight with fuel, and 2 adults about 1500 pounds. after going thru a half dozen props, and working with the dealership, i was helped by power tech. the prop i am running is a 4 blade 11 by 10 satin finsished ss, wide blade and cupped. i can get you the #s if youd like. but it's a 4 bladed swc. this prop does not ventilate! the biggest problem with cats and single engines. all of the props i tried ventilated badly in a following sea, or any kind of chop. the only other one which actually works well and is my back up is a Solas 4 bladed aluminum 11.1 by 11.
with the power tech WOT @ 5500 rpm, I am getting top speed of 26 to 27 mph. cruise is about 23 TO 24mph @ 5000 rpm.
