I work for a very large pontoon manufaturer and we mounted our first of what I'm sure will be many 350Hp Yamaha OUTBOARDS today.
The thing is HUGE, I was standing next to the hood which was on the floor and it came almost up to my hip.
Was talking to the Yamaha tech and he said it will burn 32 GPH at full throttle,32 gallons of lake gas in an hour,YIKES!!
The coolest thing is that boat is the one I get to borrow for the weekend, I can't wait for that!
They were just about to fire it up for the first time right as I had to leave so I didn't get to hear it run but if it is anything like the 150/250 I am sure it sounds just viscious.
I am told too, this is just the first one, they are going to have a 450 before long, AN OUTBOARD,450 horse,Holy cow!

Re: Yamaha 350 horse outboard

hahahaha, I'm already one ahead guys, I already have one on order .... yamaha F350 - V8... 5,3L outboard 4-stroke unfortunately, as I am a 2-stroke fan, but I'll see how it runs .... it is yet to beat my 300 HPDI Yamaha ..... but at the end nothing beats my 475hp johnson offshore ..... 2-stroke at it's best ....

I'd love to have one, I just have a hard time slapping a $25,000 motor on a $2,500 boat! lol.

Ya never know the possibilities of crazy gearheads. I remember a few years back at the NHRA Nat's, and there was a static display of the big Suzi OB..thing looked 8 feet tall! And next to it was a Fueler putting out 8000hp, and the motor looked SMALLER...people like that shouldn't get to together and talk shop...:D

If one is good then twins must be better. :D:D

Twin 350s give a 50 mph top end and a 32 mph hour cruise. 1.22 mpg at cruise and 0.75 mpg at WOT

It won't take a long time to see how Merc with new Verado and Suzuki will replay to this Yamahas chalange. All other companies will stay at their current max. power ratings (Honda, Evinrude, Tohatsu/Nissan). Now it is absolutely clear who is the leader in OB industry. That's Yammie.

It's only been out a couple of weeks and it's already declared an industry leader. How fast we forget about the Yammiebomb HPDI 300.

Care to comment industry leading number of Yammies getting towed in with fuel pump and VST problems in areas where E10 is in use?

Re: Yamaha 350 horse outboard

Surely there is no question as to whether a V8 was built by J/E...it was...yet Yammy is saying the "first ever V8"...granted, it may be the first V8 4-stroke outboard, but not the first V8...I believe the 3.6L GT from OMC gets the nod there.
