I have twin 1999 Yamaha OX66's. The starboard engine has been acting up lately. The engine will stall at low idle and at high RPM (above 4,500 RPM). At fast idle and through the mid-range, the engine performs fine. Shifting into reverse stalls the motor as well. The engine will work under hard load for a short period of time (a minute or 2) then loose power, sometime cutting off entirely. Also, I have recently noticed that when pumping this engines fuel bulb, it will not get rock hard like it usually does, but will firm up a bit. No alarms are sounding, temp and h20 pressure are at acceptable levels. This motor also seem to be creating a bit more smoke than usual. Lil Help!

sounds like your fuel pumps may need to be tested.

Pulled the plugs, pumped her up full of gas and turned the engine over. Gas was shooting out of the middle cylinder on the starboard bank. Replaced the fuel pump for that cylinder (and the others 2 while I was at it) and good to go.;)

Re: Yamaha 250 OX66 Loss of Power

I am having a similar issue with My 97' 250 ox66 but I am fine at lower rpm (2500)and above 4350 but if I try to run at cruise around 3800 to 4000 the starboard engine occasionally loses rpm down to around 2350, but if I give it more throttle it picks back up and runs fine for awhile then it does it again? I am thinking mid-range fuel pump unless somebody has any other ideas?
