Today I bought a Yamaha 225 V6 Excel in bits. Most of it is there, and I think I know what is missing. I have rebuilt a few smaller motors and this is my first biggie. The owner said it was running rough before dismantling and that a mechanic told him the cause (I presume they went thru all the usual stuff - carbs / ignition etc) was that the exhaust - the part on top of the leg - has blown thru so that power pulses from one bank of cylinders would blow back into the other bank. Well, it has blown thru. Not sure it is easy to repair by welding either so I'll keep a look out for a spare secondhand piece. But, is that a feasible answer? Is it a common thing? Also, the leg does not turn left to right freely - kinda siezed up. Also, while the leg is corrosion free, the bolts on top of the leg have not fared so well and are pretty seized up. Any ideas on how to free it all up? Any replies - thanks in advance :)

PS Anyone know what year it is? The model number is: 225 AETO
