yamaha 220 outboard oil problem

i have an 84 yamaha 220 that has the oil injection tank on the side of engine with another tank mounted in the boat. my problem is that it just keeps pumping oil into the top tank and overflowing all over the side of the engine. I'm not sure but i think that the oil level sensor in that tank is bad. is this common and does anyone know where to get one. i called a dealer and they told me japan....help.
