I am a relatively new boat owner. I have a Hurricane SD 237. It has a Yamaha F200TXR outboard motor. We had it now for 3 seasons. This past season, we experienced some surging issues. We thought we had taken care of all of them, but we now cannot get the boat to start. I have checked the fuel system and all seems to be OK.

Today, I took a spark plug tester and I am not getting any spark to the engine. I am not a mechanic, but am pretty good at repairs. This however, has me puzzled. For those out there that are more experienced what should I checking? I have thought that perhaps, something at the control unit in the boat like the safety switch may not be functioning correctly which would stop the boat from working. How would I check this? Any and all help would be appreciated. If there are posts out there that may help me Please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I did some tinkering today. I checked the emergency kill switch and it doesn't appear to be connected to anything. I checked the continuity of the switch and it appears that if the switch is engaged with the clip the circuit is open. I am not sure I ever checked to see if the kill switch worked. The reason I say this is due to the fact that with the switch not connected to anything it would always be open. If it is closed it would kill the engine.

I am going to start checking all the fuses, then if I can't find anything unless I hear from someone on this site I think I will just take it to the mechanic.

Thanks
