I don't know about the number of teeth on the starter bendix gear and I'm not sure it matters....but I believe the addition of the starter, relay, wiring, etc.,etc. may make it a real headache for you mechanically and financially. I believe Yamaha gets about $450 just for the new starter!....maybe trade for a motor with electric starting?....Good Luck!
