Hi all, I am removing my T/T unit to have it rebuilt. I have gotten everything removed, but can't seem to get the starboard side mounting bracket to slide down steering tube to allow for the
unit to be removed. Have steering cable loose and bolt on steering tube loose, but bracket doesn't seem to want to move. Hit it with additional penetrating oil and smacked it a couple times and decided to sleep on it. Any advice? Am I missing something? Thanks

The trim/tilt assembly should slide out without the clamp brackets having to be messed with.

I am pretty sure this model 3 cylinder with a 3 cylinder tilt unit does not slide out so easy, but I will have another look. I got a set of split ring plyers to disconnect the top of the tilt ram. Thanks

Have the T/T completely disconnected from motor and motor brackets, but there is not enough room to get t/t unit out without the starboard mounting bracket getting loose. The bracket is disconnected from transom, but does not seem to want to slide to the starboard on the steering tube. Motor can freely be tilted up and down around steering tube. Any advice would be appreciated. Thinking some heat applied to bracket might be next step.

are you sure the bracket is not stuck to the transom itself?
might loosen the other side also to see if that helps

No the starboard bracket is free from transom, I am thinking some heat on aluminum bracket, and maybe have someone lift motor as I am trying to get it loose to see if there is a position where it may move easier. Has not budged a hair. Thanks

Finally managed to move the starboard mount and removed the tilt and trim unit. Was able to get mount moving up and down a bit and when a got a bit of space between mount and motor I was able to drive a series of regular screw drivers like wedges and finally got it moving. Extra set of hands and some pry bars finished the job. Now the mount slides easily on the tube. Don't think there is an easy way, lot of patients. Sure will be a lot easier to put back together. Getting the unit fully rebuilt and new motor, one broken bolt extracted at 5 Star Marine.
