My 175hp, model 175ETXJ, runs fine at low to medium speeds, but when I go up to full throttle it stalls and hesitates. I have changed the bulb, fuel filter, and fuel connections and it is still having the same problem. Anyone have an answer to my problem.

Johann

Re: Yamaha 175hp Fuel Problem

There are three low pressure fuel pumps on that engine. If one of the diaphrams fail the engine will fall on its face. There are rebuild kits thru Yamaha or Sierra. The sierra kits are 18-7788. The fuel pumps should be serviced every 200 to 250 hours of service.Yamaha came out with a new matrial for the diaphram. Its a clear plastic like material but they failed sooner than the rubber material. The rubber are the best kits for that engine. Remove the two small bolts that hold them on the block and pump the primer bulb if you see fuel out the back of them. The diaphram is failed. The hole in the back is the vacumm port. No fuel should be present there.

Re: Yamaha 175hp Fuel Problem

Thanks for the info. I checked it out both fuel pumps were leaking gas around the diaphrams. I ordered the parts they will be here in a week.
