A friend of mine completely wrecked the lower unit on his Yam 150TRP. The replacement cost for a new l/u is ridicuously high (along with the prop cost) so he's now looking into converting it into a regular single prop engine.
Anybody done something like this , and are the legs and lower units interchangeable without too much fuzz?

thanks,
ivar

You will have to adjust the engine height due to the shorter gearcase height of the TRP. Otherwise a bolt up.

The lower units have dropped dramatically in price full RRP is $2720.00 65N-45300-00-NA LOWER UNIT ASSY

People are buying these lower units and putting them on brand new four stroke Yamaha 150's

Is your friend sure he wants to give up the benefits of the TRP box and go back to a normal one???

FPmarine.com have sets of props pretty cheap too.
