Yamaha 150 - Tilt Question

Can the tilt angle of a 2001 Yamaha 150 be adjusted to go beyond the factory set limit. I look at other boats in my marina and see that their motors can tilt completely out of the water especially with Merc's and Suzuki's. It appears that those motors can tilt almost 90 degrees while the Yamaha limits their movement to about 74 degrees. I am tired of having barncles growing on that portion of the lower unit that never can be be lifted out of the water.
Any ideas, self fixes, etc would be appreciated.

Re: Yamaha 150 - Tilt Question

I made a bag/sock out of the same plastic tarp material as my cover with a draw string. It only needs to cover the prop and cavitation plate.
You could use a heavy plastic bag or bin bag in the short term.

I don't think you can get much more out of the tilt piston. You're lower unit being in the water has more to do with your hull design and weight distribution. The leading edge cone of my lower unit sits in the water.

Do you use anti-fouling paint on your lower unit??

I would agree with rbu, Put a good anti-fouling paint as needed. Less drag there than growth. :p
