Yamaha 150 4 stroke

How many hours can one expect to get from the Yamaha 150 4 stroke? I am considering purchasing a 2007 boat with twin 150's and they have 560 hours on them and still under warranty. I will be going offshore and don't know how many more hours I can expect from them without major repairs. Any advice will be appreciated.

There is no magic number. Some folks can turn a perfectly good engine into an anchor in 50 hours -- others have no problem running 2000, 3000 or more hours. It isn't about luck. Longevity is about preventive maintenance, proper preparation for storage, proper operation, and fixing what's wrong when something is broken or not working quite right.
