Hi,
I have a 2003 yamaha 130 on an 18ft. mckee craft. We recently took the boat into a yamaha licensed dealership to get a small problem fixed. The oil from the tank under the console would not automatically go to the tank on the motor. we would have to manually pump oil into the motor every so often. The dealership said they fixed the problem but we still experienced low oil warnings and reguarly had to manually pump oil. about a week later we heard banging in the motor, like two poles hitting each other. We took the motor back to the dealership and they said that a cylinder had blown. I brought up the idea that they never fixed the oil problem but they said that if it was an oil problem all the cylinders would have blown. this is not correct. I called yamaha and they confirmed that just one cylinder could have blown due to oil Just wanted to know if anyone thinks the two problems are related and whether we should insist that they fix it for free. They want $3,900 to replace the cylinder. Thanks!
