Oil injection on this engine sucks! The upper reservoir will overfill, & now the oil is being over-pumped or is leaking into my cylinders and it looks like I'm fogging for mosquitos. How do I remove this freakin' pump and sensor and use a premix. Specifically, will the pump fail without oil in it? How do I remove the gear or mechanism from the pump to stop it from pumping? What is the best way to seal the oil feed tubes enter the heads, and what is the best way to jump out the oil level sensors? I'm sure you've addressed this before, where do I need to look or who do I ask? Obi One, you're my only hope.

Re: Yamaha 115ETLH Oil Pump Problems

I would suggest repairing the system properly and not remove it. Sounds like the float sensor in the tank needs replacing. The upper switch isn't telling the control box to turn the pump off.

Re: Yamaha 115ETLH Oil Pump Problems

Me too, after 18 years of trouble free operation, my 1985 Yamaha 115 is continuously pumping oil from the sub oil tank to the main oil tank causing the engine to exhaust a tremendous amount of smoke as well as leaking oil into the engine compartment. It appears to be overflowing the main oil tank mounted on the engine block. How would you troubleshoot this problem?

In the previous post, you suggested that the float sensor in the tank needs replacing. Is this sensor in the sub oil tank or the main oil tank?

Re: Yamaha 115ETLH Oil Pump Problems

I have the same exact problems with an 85 Yamaha 200 . The float is in the main tank. I checked mine 2 days ago to assure it would slide up and down freely which it does. I am not sure what tests I can run on the float?? Possibly I can move the float up and down out of the tank and see what response the pump has other than on! Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated the white smoke and oil is embarrassing.
Thanks.
