What gives the 130 the 15 more horse's?

I don't think the stroke and bore is bigger so, it must be in the carburation and electronics.

Is it just the power pack or what? Anybody know?

Thanks,

GG

There are several differences, Bose.

With the same displacement, on the water performance doesn't show much change until you get into the max rpm range.

Re: Yamaha 115 vs. 130

Same stroke and bore between the two.

The 130 hp increases compression (about 5%), raises the operating rpm, and makes a few carb changes.

I'd have to look at the parts book, but the compression increase probably includes different pistons and a slightly different head design.

Torque X RPM / 5252 = HP. So an increase in rpm will generally increase HP if the Torque doesn't drop too much. The compression increase keeps the torque up. ;)

I've had excellent luck with the 115. :)
