Yamaha 115 Timing Belt

get a Yamaha service manual for your motor, they help a lot when working on a motor

Thanks. Already got one, but just wondering if anyone had any tips or what to look for. I know it’s a interference engine so if marks line up I will be ok.

never did you myself, but seems I read that on some motors you need to move the tensioner very slowly.
Utube videos might be a good place to look

Seen some of those videos. I believe those are hydraulic tensioners used on bigger engines. My 115 is a mechanical tensioner. Really appreciate your input and replies 99 yam. I get nervous doing something I haven’t done before and am trying for any info I can get before I change belt. Need to just man up and do it don’t I.

Don’t know what I was worried about. Took about an hour taking my time. It was simple and straightforward. Ran fine on cups so I will test it good this weekend on the river.
