Hello all and thanks in advance for any help. My uncle just purchased a running Yamaha 115 ETLK. I am planning to put it on his pontoon boat. He said it ran.
What I am trying to find is a wiring diagram so I can connect it to his existing wiring. He has a Mercury force 120.
I don’t know if they make a plug and play adapter? If not, I guess I will splice it in.
I am wondering if someone can point me in direction of diagram or can tell me what the wire colors are going to.
I am assuming I am going to need to have:
12v all the time to one wire (red?)
Keyed on 12v (purple?)
Ground (black?)
Wire going to solenoid (not sure?)
Also, what color wire needs 12v to enable the coils to fire?
is there a wire that will need to go to ground to cut the engine off?
How does the choke work on this motor? Is it electric?

I know I have a lot of questions, but I haven’t gotten a chance to get my hands on the motor, and I am hoping someone can give me some answers to any of these questions. I appreciate any help you can provide!
thanks!

What I am trying to find is a wiring diagram so I can connect it to his existing wiring. He has a Mercury force 120. Wiring diagram is in the applicable service manual. Same for the Mercury Force.
I don’t know if they make a plug and play adapter? If not, I guess I will splice it in. None that I know of.
I am wondering if someone can point me in direction of diagram or can tell me what the wire colors are going to.
I am assuming I am going to need to have:
12v all the time to one wire (red?) Red is Yamaha battery power.
Keyed on 12v (purple?) Yellow is Yamaha key on power.
Ground (black?) Black is Yamaha ground.
Wire going to solenoid (not sure?)
Also, what color wire needs 12v to enable the coils to fire? CDI ignition. Does not use battery power.
is there a wire that will need to go to ground to cut the engine off? White is the Yamaha colour for the kill circuit.
How does the choke work on this motor? Is it electric? Blue is the Yamaha colour for the choke solenoid. Solenoid activated electric choke.

I know I have a lot of questions, but I haven’t gotten a chance to get my hands on the motor, and I am hoping someone can give me some answers to any of these questions. I appreciate any help you can provide!
thanks!
Brown is the Yamaha wire colour for the starter motor relay.

Grass green is the Yamaha wire colour for down trim.

Sky blue is the Yamaha wire colour for up trim.

I apologize. I was looking at his response on my phone and didn’t see the “expand” tab. Awesome information! I appreciate it! I may be back with more questions once I dig in to it. Thanks again!
