You will say it after you read this, so I will, yes I am an idiot and need some advice. I am in the early stages of the break in of a new 2002 Yammy 115 2 stroke. During the first hours, I spaced out and pushed the RPMS up to close to 5000 for no more then a few minutes (less then 8 minutes total). Do I have a problem?. Engine ran fine, seems to be running fine. All seems normal. Should I look for signs. IS there anything I can do other then the obvious to be more diligent? Thanx, I am an new member and look forward to reading your forum

Re: Yamaha 115 break in

Ahoy, Ralphie.

What does your Owners Manual say about it? I'm sure it doesn't say anything about a "few" hours.

Most break in instructions allow short periods of full throttle after 2 or 3 hours at reduced rpm.

I doubt that you have done any harm, but your engine will last longer if you follow Yammy's instructions exactly from here on out.

Good luck :)

May want to see if manual tells you to add additional oil to fuel for break in period

My 99 Yamaha....same model.....manual said 'double oil' it for an initial period then go to 50:1....

ralphie,

Depends on what you mean by "after a few hours".

My Suzuki DT-140's manual said-paraphrasing, "don't even think about WOT until it's run at least two hours".

I think you are fine. We're all assuming you double oiled it.
