Yamaha 100 Four Stroke- Good/Bad?

Does anyone have any experience with this motor? I would like to hear all comments good and bad. Thank yall!

The F100 is no longer available in 2003. But it was/is a great outboard. Yamaha's new F90 and F75 are basically the exact outboard as the F100 was. They have the same 1596 cc block, but with a smaller alternator and lower compression ratio to bring down the power. IMO, introducing two new outboards based on the same proven engine as the F100 says something.<br /><br />The only downfall of the F100 was that, since it was carbureted, it had to compete for sales with its fuel injected big brother F115 (1741 cc).<br /><br />You really couldn't go wrong with it.

I loved my F100 until last month. The carbs had gummed up and it ran very rough. Maybe I got some bad gasoline in it, but I always add fuel stabilizer and ring-free carbon cleaner. They cleaned out the carbs for me,($600.00), and now it runs better than ever. I would reccomend this engine to you, just be sure to get your gas at a land based station, (more volume= fresh gas), and don't fuel up when the tanker is there,(it stirs up the sediment in the tank.) Add the sta-bil unless you know you'll burn the tank right away.

And install a Water Seperating fuel filter to take care of those times when you may get bad fuel.

have been running an f-80 for about a year now. quiet/economical/reliable. no problems. you will love it.
