yamah 75hp reverse problem

hi all am new to this forums and boating!
i have bought a fletcher arrowsport 150, with a yamha 75 hp outboard motor and used it twice and having a problem with the reverse gear, when i came to reverse the boat it was grinding and crunching when selecting reverse. (like changing gear in a car with no clutch) but going foward is fine.

Pull the shift cable off and try shifting it manually. If you don't hear the grind while doing this it may be in your cable adjustments. If you do hear the grind you may have to tare into it and see whats going on. Good luck
