I have 50 hours on the motor, runs fine once started, when warm, it starts easily, and idles perfectly once started. ( It's getting it started! ) Tachs out @ 5500 rpm. The motor is carbed. This problem has been getting worse, little by little

The fuel lines are clear and free of any interuptions.

I just changed the oil.

Plugs look ok.

I had to crank it 7 or 8 times to get it going today. Don't like beating on the starter.

Yes, i squeezed the ball, and a second time ( and i checked that fuel flows freely from it, with no effort, previously )

Fuel is fresh 87 octane, with a maintence level of ring free.

The last interesting one, and maybe of importance, when running the motor on the garden hose it will start on the second or third try when cold. ( no strain from the impeller )

?????

I got a live one.

OK, checked the battey, cca are above reccommended for the motor, as are the mca.

I put the battery on my charger, and it went right to a trickle charge. ( full )

I have dual batt's, and the same was true for the other.

I have even tried starting it with both, lot's of amps,,,,,,

While running i pulled one of each of the spark plug leads, each one slowed down ther rpm's the same, so i seem to be hitting on all 4 cylinders.
( on the garden hose of course, in my back yard )

so, ??? it's summer time, nice and warm, ok 80,,,

Is it taking longer to 'catch' or you just cranking it for longer each time. ie 7-8 times to catch? or 7-8 revolutions? Dosn't sound to extreme 2 me, maybe you should change the plugs, process of elimination!

where is the choke on this 4 stroke?

i'll change the plugs, to be sure

evrything is teched out,

i don't mean cranking 7 times over, i mean 7 or 8 3 to 5 second intervals, fast.

manual says no more than 5 seconds
