yahama inboard outboard

I am currently looking at a 1995 chaparral. It has a yahama 5.7 liter inboard outboard. Never really had any experince with this motor, kind of looking for some input good or bad.

I'm in the same boat (ha!) Looking at a 1992 21' Chap. I am not familiar with Yamaha. He says it's a 350 engine so I'm guessing that to be 5.7 range.
Going to test drive this weekend and maybe trade up from my Searay.

"me too" said the 3rd blind mouse. I am looking at a '94 w/ twin 5.7 litre. My question is : the boat has never been in salt water; I plan to use it in the Gulf of Mexico; engines are raw water cooled, any comment, suggestion or precautions?
