I haven't been around outboards much so this is all new to me..I have a 6hp yahama that has been running good until yesterday, took it out and was about 1/2 throttle and it died. Pulled and it would start, run a few seconds then die again. Today same thing, started it after a few pulls, ran a few seconds then died. I took off cover and noticed fuel dripping from a little clear piece of plastic that looked to be maybe a filter. Any ideas on what is going on? Too old to keep pulling on that sucker, need it fixed!!!

Please fix the leak, you don't want a fire or explosion out there.

You may be sucking air at the fuel leak, I would clean the carb(s) the idle jet with the largest drill bit that will fit in idle jet, gently clean it out, if you have compressed air to shoot in there it helps. I would check the high speed jet also while your there, make sure there's not a chunk of something partially blocking it.

We strongly believe, a 10 micron spin on water separating filter mounted on the transom is a must for water and dirty gas, especially with fuel injectors.

50:1 add two stroke oil in the gas, You could get a service manual so you could do all the yearly maintance yourself, order parts to fix it, it's fast and easy.
