I am going to pruchase a 16' aluminum Mirrocraft boat. I comes with a painted Yacht Club trailer. The boat will be used both on lakes and salt water. Should I opt out of the painted trailer and buy a galvanized trailer? Is galanized a must when unloading the boat into salt water? If I keep the painted trailer and wash it, will I be ok?

I have a painted YC as well. Very nice trailer and a very long lasting paint job. Mine is built from square tubing as opposed to a U-channel.

If yours is the same, I would replace it. It will rust from the inside out and you may not be able to detect the damage until it is too late.

+1 - Galv or a Aluminum for even occasional saltwater dunking.
