Has anyone else ordered a water pump kit from iboats and it doesn't match up?

I have a 1987 Force-85hp, and the kit I ordered had the impeller, seals, gaskets, etc, and none of them were the same as mine.

I think next time I'll go to a local marine parts place and bring the old parts to match up to the new to be safe. I'd send the iboats parts back, but given the cost of shipping, I'd only save 5-6 bucks.

Try your local Mercury dealer. I use www.fairwindsmarina.com. They are a little pricey but specialize in Chrysler/Force parts. They have several water pump kits in stock, in fact that is where I bought mine. Give them your model and serial # and if the part is available they'll get it for you. They have yet to let me down. I live close by so that helps.

real... I saw that last night when I went to recheck the order.

When I first ordered the kit it said it was for the Force engines...but...upon further looking, I see that the pics they show don't match the pump I have. I didn't realize that till I had my own pump apart. (I ordered the parts before I took the pump apart).

When I went to their parts chart I found the impeller and thermostat were the only parts listed. btw: It shows a thermostat...but damn if I can find the thermostat in any of the schematics I have of my engine.

OK make absolutly sure you get the correct t-stat.
there is a 110 and 143 also more important there is a 3/4" and a 1" size.

Go to This page.

look at you engine by model# The t-stat is lcated above the top spark plug, It has 4 screws and usually the housing is square.

After looking at your T-stat get the correct 1 for your motor the 110 I believe but make sure!
