WR500 seems to break up at high rpms

I ran my WR500 for the first time on the hose this season, and it seems to be breaking up when I rev it up. It starts and idles fine. The plugs are new, and both have good spark. It just seems like it is hitting a rev limiter or something when I rev it up. Without a tach, its hard to tell.

It may be normal, the service manual says it redlines at 5500 rpms. I just don't remember it doing that last year. Then again, I also don't remember reving it up on the hose much either. I guess I'll have to just wait and run it when the weather warms up.

Do these things have rev-limiters? Anyone ever have this problem?

This is normal for the WR500. I have a 1989 model that I bought new and it hits the rev limiter on the hose. Put her in the water and she will be fine.

You were right, it was fine on the water.
