Just for giggles I've been watching this old 7.5 Merc on ebay for a while. I'd searched for mid 70's 7.5 Mercs a while back to see what I might get for one I was repairing, most were asking between $200 and $300 for them, except this one which the seller was very very very proud of. Several months ago he was asking $800 for it, I guess he must figure that since the economy is rebounding that he can now get more for it since it's up to $1000.

It'll probably never sell...at least not for that $. Some people are just dreamers. Not just with OBs either.

But then again you never know. I collect antiques and I was following an auction where the guy just about claimed it was one of Ole Evinrude's originals. Of course, it was "an expert told me"...."but I don't know much about these things". I asked questions about it and examined the pics closer and determined that it was cobbed up parts and thus was basically a fraudulent claim. I contacted the owner and he said that others told him the same story, that is was worth maybe $200 in parts.

To my surprize the next day it sold for $1,995.00

Asking for a price and actually getting it are two entirely different things... I've gotten many motors over the years that were priced way high, but actually sold for considerably less. Patience is a virtue.

What's that a 1975...for a grand:eek: Looks like it has silt under the cover. After it sunk, maybe that's why they stuck it in a barn.

I typically get +-$575 for 7.5's and +-$675 for 9.8's. A video of it running is a MUST. start, idle, rev, idle, pisser, rev, idle, shut off, re-start = Sold. Ebay or Craigslist.

Hmmm. I bought my 9.9 Merc 4 stroke new in 2003 for $1800. I'd take $1995 for it.
