We're interested in purchasing a 20' Larson 206 LXi that does not include in trailer... this will be our first boat so we need all the advice we can get. Would a trailer like this work? It's a bunk style trailer, how important are rollers vs. no rollers?

single axle galv trailer 19-21' boat

2006 karavan 4500 lb cap. brakes great cond will md insp had a 21' caralina skiff on it

Thanks for you input!

Re: Would this trailer work?

You will need to find the weight of the boat full of gear, fuel, and extras. If that is under the 4500lb limit they it will be ok. Then the length from the bow eye to the end of the transom needs to match or adjust the trailer to match. Then the boat needs to sit between or over the fenders. Measure the beam.

The trailer then needs to be set up to fit the boat. The rollers vs bunks is a personal preference. I like bunks but others like rollers, both just have to be set properly to hold the boat. To me 4500lbs sounds near the limit of a single axle trailer. Carolina skiffs can be very light depending on what they have on them. Much lighter than the boat you are looking at.
