Replacing blown 93' 120 with 76' 135 on my 93 stratos 274fs. Just bought a CMC pt130 tnt. Its gonna provide a 6" setback. I have a 6"setback manual jackplate and was thinking about using it also. So, what do u all think? I also believe I need the cavitation plate 1-3 inches above the bottom of the hull?

I wouldnt say overkill. Its nice having tilt, trim and jackplate on a bass boat. Personally though, I would have bought a nice used motor with power trim instead of spending $700 adding one to a 1976 motor.

Thx sutor623, appreciate the reply. Actually only paid $575 new shipped to my door for the tnt and that 76' 135 has been a champ. And of course, finding a good used 120 or up motor under $1500 is hard to do. Would it be simpler to install without the jackplate???

Well most performance bass boats come standard with a jack plate. And honestly adding a jack plate wouldn't make the install any more difficult. I'd install it, no question.
