Noticed yesterday that my wot was 5000 rpm. on my 94 225 yam. 2 stroke. I believe this is low but it runs good. Should I see higher or leave it alone. Carb plates are fully open.

Re: wot

I don't know much but it seems 5500-6000 is 'normal'. The limiting factor could be the size of the boat or how much total weight you are carrying. Also the prop size can limit RPM's. I had this problem on a 50 horse Yammy a while back. The boat was just too big for the motor. Now I have an 85 Suzi.

5600-6000 is where you really want to be. Much easier on the engine and more efficent.

Re: wot

Prop is original. I think I remember reading that it could be a problem not reaching max rpm's although I seldom run wide open. She seems to like 4000 rpm. It's like you can hear it when you reach 4000. Almost like changing to a hum sound if that makes sense. All fuel pumps are new. I have water/fuel seperator, inline filter plus motor mounted filter. Carbs have been cleaned. She is very responsive with no flat spots. Just concerned about that top end RPM. If you don't think I need to look deeper and let it go then I'm good with it.
Thanks Guys

Re: wot

If the prop is damaged it could cause a loss in rpm. A new prop may perk it right up.
