I have recently had a repair made to my prop. It was only during this repair that I learned about the effect of prop size and/or pitch on the RPM's when operating at WOT. Of course as soon as the boat was back in the water I tried it out so that I would know what the RPM's are at WOT.

I have a Merc 115 2 stroke outboard. The WOT RPM's are between 5000 and 5100. Is this to high? What should the RPM's be?

My current prop is a 19 pitch 13 1/4 alum. Should I change it? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Tony :D

Re: WOT RPM

I would think thats a little low especially if you tested light. You could try to raise the motor (increase the X dimension) but with an aluminum prop you may ventilate the blades easily.

I have a couple of new SS Stilettos left that are 13 1/4x17 pitch if you are interested. They list for 377.00 and I'm selling them for 175.00 each.

Good luck!
