WOT RPM for 89 4.3 Mercruiser Alpha I

I'm a very new boat owner. I'm wondering what my WOT RPM specs should be on my 89 Mercruiser 4.3 Alpha I.

Maybe I'm just not used to boating, but the engine really sounds like it's screaming when I'm cruising full bore.

Let me know what other info you need.

Borchik got the right range. As a new owner, be aware that boat use is much harder on engines than a car would be. The drag on a boat is very high, and goes up exponentially with speed. You'll be doing your engine a big favor if you limit WOT runs. The engine will work very comfortably at about 2500-3500 rpm.
Your fuel consumption could be as much as 1/2 less also...

That's super helpful. Thanks for the feedback guys. I will definitely keep that in mind. I went from riding an 1800CC Vtwin motorcycle to a boat, so this is all very new to me. But, I have to say, much more fun!
