WOT on a 81 5.0... Anyone know what RPM?

I have searched and searched for this one. I have an 81 5.0 Chevy mercruiser and I am hitting about 3900 RPM at WOT. I think it is supposed to be around 4200. Anyone know?

I have a 79 200hp 5.0 CHEVY/mercruiser (is yours a chevy or ford?) and I believe mine is 4200-4400....

3900 sounds a little low for WOT rpm's.

It could be one of two models. The 898 (305 with a 2bbl carb) is 3800 to 4200 rpm.
The 228 (305 with a 4bbl carb) is 4200 to 4600 rpm

Just an FYI. Last year of Fords was 77.
