I did a quick search but just in Honda so this may have been addressed elsewhere. I have a Honda 75 four stroke (2004) with 32 hours on a 16' HewesCraft Sportsman. The highest RPM I see at WOT is 4600. The engine is rated for 75 hp at 5500 RPM. Is this acceptable, is the prop the wrong pitch or size (what came on the engine) or could there be something else? Everything else seems to run fine and there is no lugging or surging go on. Thanks Dan

I would say that the prop needs to be replaced with one that is a smaller pitch. What pitch do you have on it now?

dsmith84,
Also make sure your boat is correctly balanced.
Too much weight in the stern could also cause the engine run below its typical range.

I agree, we need to know what pitch you are currently running. And how much does the boat weigh?

Nav
