I was told the motor that came with my boat is a Johnson 1.5 Colt series. I'm not sure of the year, but it looks older than I am. My neighbor tells me that it would be considered vintage and that I could sell it online, possibly selling it close to what I need for a nice used 10hp. Any suggestions?

Unless you are real young that motor isnt younger than you.:) Looks like it is late 80's, probably 88. Certainly not vintage by any means, but grab a model number and we can tell you for sure, but my guess is 88.

I don't know what the market for a 1.5hp motor is, but my guess is it would have to be in exceptional shape to get you enough $ to buy a nice reliable 10hp motor. What does it run like? cleaning it up cosmetically can't hurt either.
