I am not real sure that is a record that needed to be broken.

I'm not sure that guy will make it out of his twenties. What a rush that had to be. Not for me.

Its not stupid or insane. Tyler is a world class kayaker who researched the drop and had a good safety crew. Lots of people who don't know anything about kayaking or paddling whitewater think those of us who do it are crazy.

I M H O There is a fine line between courage and crazy. Ya gotta have your nads screwed on pretty tight to pull of a stunt like that....

Without guys like him we'd never have gone to the moon, top of Everest, crossed the Atlantic etc. If it was me, we'd still be eating bananas in Africa.

That was incredible. I've lived a life of an adrenaline junky... I wouldn't go that far. I'm glad it worked for him. May he live long and adventurously.

All of those other ones took years of training, and in most cases the risks were mitigated with technology and preparation.

This guy just paddled off the edge of a cliff. Training and skill might count for a small part of it, but gravity is going to win. He got lucky, pure and simple. Do that stunt a couple more times and his ticket will come up. Darwin will happily punch it for him.

That young man has some nads but he's gonna lose his life if he keeps taking chances like that...Thats not skills that's just balls and luck..

Comparing that with everest?
I don't think so.

Edmund Hillary is dead but not forgotten, even his sherpa, Tensig Norgay, is famous.

Does anyone remember what this kids name is right now?

If any of those explorers came to those falls they would have portaged. That is a stunt, pure and simple.

In my defense: Riding a bomb into the unknown, based on a bunch of calculations and theories, with a potential of not returning=stunt; Climbing a mountain with constant freezing temps., hurricane force winds, and a severe lack of oxygen. Can't even bring back the dead.=stunt; Sailing off the edge of the earth with untold sea monsters in between, comeon

And probably several fractured vertebrae that he will be suffering with for the rest of his life. We have all taken some chances in our lives, but most of us (at least I will) draw the line at permanent damage. I know I'm getting old when I just think these kids are crazy to go back to extreme sports within days of taking a cast off from thier last stunt. I guess it's the rush, because the money for some of these sports just isn't that great.
