Here's a picture from back in 2009 that I stumbled upon. At the time this was the only vehicle I owned along with my boat. I had a chance to do some fishing after being away for a little over 3 months working. Had a decent day at Lake Skinner too. image.jpg

Now that's funny. Must have been a tough pull up the hills.

No issues what so ever. Since that boat had a 93" beam it had a wide trailer. It actually stuck out just a smidge wider than the Kenworth. The trick is to not oversteer, one thing that almost everyone who backs a trailer does inadvertently. I pulled that boat a few more times and then I bought a F-350 crewcab about a month and a half later.

Kinda puts those who think they need the big turbo diesel dually to pull a 12' row boat to shame.

I love it.

Anything to be on the water.

Only about a 3mpg difference. At 80,000 pounds CGVW I'd average 7.2 to 7.6 mpg. Bobtailing I would get between 10 and 11. Sad part is that's better than my old ford would get.

I would all most suggest the pic needs to be the poster pic in the towing section.:D

i can just imagine the look on peoples face when they pull up to the ramp to launch and a semi is backed down the ramp.. i bet they are thinking "what kind of boat doe he have."and then theres the guy that has a 1 ton dually pulling a 16 ft tinny and he gets the oppurtunity to say to his wife " see honey i really DID need this 1 ton truck to pull a 1500 pound boat" lol

Re: Working with what you have

I had a dually before that I pulled that boat with. I also had 15 horses at the time so I pulled a 4 horse trailer and a bobcat on a equipment trailer. Just because the guy/gal has a small boat and a diesel truck doesn't mean he's over compensating, he may very well have something larger.

As for using that pic as the towing forum poster pic, that's cool with me and I give my permission for it to be used.

Trailer didn't have air brakes. It didn't even have brakes. Being it was a single axle it didn't come with them. I see guys that pull lowbeds running around like that all the time with either a Tonka Loader or Dump Truck. It's funny watching them go through the loaded side of the scales. DOT just shakes their head.
