Good happy Sunday evening to everyone,
I am in the process of making new replacement bunks for my pontoon boat trailer. I have made 2 new bunks with regular pine wood from a friend that had leftover 2X4X14 from his garage but lacked the last 2 I needed to finish the job. My question is Lowe's sales 2X4X14 Top Choice HD Whitewood. Will that work just fine with new bunk baords for my pontoon boat trailer? I have been told that pressure treated is not too good to use for a pontoon boat because the chemicals cause a chemical reaction with the aluminum. Thanks for your help. Bob :)

I meant it was Top Choice KD, (I believe Kiln Dried) not HD in my thread above, sorry about that. Let me know though

That will work fine sir, I have regular untreated 2x4s from Lowes and they have done well for years now.

5150Abf,
AWESOME!!!! Yes, I was in Lowes the other day and they had the grey outdoor carpet, size 4' X 12' in the remnants section for $12.95 so I scarfed that up and my friend said that I could have his 2 each, 2X4X14 pieces of left over boards that were perfectly straight. Lowes sells the wood I just described above for $3.98 a piece so Thursday when I get paid I will buy 2 of those and more 1/2" staples for my staple gun. I figure I want have no more than $30.00 invested in all 4 brand new bunks when I get done with it. The first two turned out AWESOME and I can't wait to get the last two done and mounted on the pontoon trailer, it will look brand new again and I don't have to worry about rotten wood again for a while. Thanks, Bob:)

Hey Bubba,
Glad it's working out for you. Just a tip...Use stainless steel staples.
