One of the 11 foot wood bunks is splintered on My trailer. I'm going to replace both. Is an ordinary double treated 2X6 that You find at Home Depot OK, or is there some special lumber required. It is used in salt water, not very often though. Any help is appreciated. AL

Re: Wood Bunk Replacement Question

It's 23 Foot Grady, weighs about 4000 lbs. without the engine (yam 250) & gas 148 gallons. I'd say It needs to Hold 6000 lbs. But, most of the weight is on the two main timbers, looks like they're 4X8s's & are in good shape. The broken pieces is one of two center slides. They are 2X6's, looks like ordinary treated wood to Me but I wanted to be sure before replacing them. Trailer made by Owens in ST Pete FL. Thanks, AL

Some of that "Hard as Nails" Southern Pine, Pressure Treated you're looking at will be Perfect..........<br />Just match it size for size..........
