wont shut off

I have a 24ft starcraft with a 115hp mariner it starts fine but it wont shut off tried a new switch but that was not it. any ideas. the only way I can shut it off is by pushing the key in and choking it till it dies.

I would post this in the engine section. Strange problem indeed.

to stop a outboard the black wire with the yellow strip is grounded by the key or the lanyard. If the ignition has a broken ground wire it will also carry on running. If you can use a volt meter test the ground and with the motor off test that the black with yellow strip is grounded at the key then test at the motor.

I found a loose wire on the motor tightened it and then it worked fine. Thanks for the help !!
