Won't run under load !!!!!

Hello,<br /><br />I am a not so proud new owner of a 2001 5hp Honda. I am experiencing some problems....any help woud be greatly appreciated....<br /><br />I have now spent 5 hours with a Honda mechanic, who ended up giving me the engine back (without repair)<br /><br />We have tried cleaning the carbs five times, tested the water pump, fuel lines etc. Has anyone been successful in testing the CDI (powerpack)? I don't have the manual, do they offer an updated manual, other then the one offered on iboats?<br /><br />The engine will idle but as soon as I put in gear and give some throttle....it will die.<br /><br />Please provide your thoughts....as I am tired of giving money to a dealer who can provide a fix !!!<br /><br />Thank you,<br /><br />Nick

Thank you for your response....we did also try replacing the carb with a new out of the box model....and ran the same....<br /><br />"Regarding what did the mechanic do for five hours"........huh !!! I wish I could tell yah !!<br /><br />Nick

Let,s boil it down to basics.How much expeiriance does this dealer have with these engines?If they have any at all they will know that this engine needs too idle at around 1600.That can be sometimes a little tricky to achieve especially in a sailboat situation.Sound familiar?

He has been a dealer for many years....since the Honda's said "100 hp" and were blue and white. The engines doesn't idle bad just dies when put into gear and apply more then idle speed.<br /><br />Nick
