I have 1989 Evinrude 120HP 2 Stroke VRO. When running at idle it runs really rough it bucks and sputters, and tries to stall. It sounds to me like it is missing although I am not a mechanic. When you put the engine into gear, one click off of idle the engine will sputter and stall. If you have the engine in neutral and open up the throttle immediately, the engine will run strong going fast. The only problem is at idle and just above. I have replaced the powerpack and ignition switch. The kill switch is disconnected while I await a new one. Looking at my repair manual I see that there is a knob on the throttle arm that will effect idle when it is adjusted. My engine is missing this knob. I dont know if it is missing the spring as well because I dont know if that is supposed to be in the knob or if it is in the arm farther back. It looks like the previous owner may have busted the threads to this knob. I cant tell since I dont know how far up the arm the threads are supposed to run. Click on the hyperlink to see a picture of what I am talking about. The thread is right at the bottom of the picture. Is the thread running up as far as it is supposed to, or is it broken?? Could this be the cause of my problem?? Thanks!
