Boat 1985, 18 Ft Renken. Volvo Penta 125A, 270 Outdrive. Just took the boat after 2 years of storage. Boat ran well but would not get up on plain. RPM's went up to about 3700, and just didnt seem to have enough to get it up. Prior to storage it had no problem doing it. What could have happened. Prop is original, thinking about changing that too. Thoughts?

Also I forgot to mention. I just had it tuned by a local shop. New cap, rotor, plugs, points, oil change, compression check showed great as well.

2 years of hibernation has gummed up the carb - most likely. Time for a 'wake up' tune and service, start with a comp test and go from there.<br /><br />A manual would be of great assistance.

New fuel in the tank?<br /><br />If you added new fuel, how much? How much old fuel was in the tank already?

just had it tuned up and 12 gall of new fuel.

did it get wet during storage or water logged, <br />sounds like it could be heavy.

sounds like fuel or carb problems possibly both??
