I have a 120 xr sport jet rocket by rinker. 4 cyl mercury. when i got it 3 months ago, it went about 35 mph. but it took alot for it to get up and go. so i knew there was somthing going away on it. now it dosent go 5 mph. motor runs good, and i can feel water shooting out the jet pump, but maybe its not enough. could it be the wear ring (if it has one) or tune up maybe? im lost nick

If It Was Hesiitating Like A Car Transmission Slipping Then It Is You Wear Ring, If You Look At The Pump And Can See Around Light Around Your Prop Within The Housing Then You Nered To Replace The Wear Ring. What It Sounds Like To Me Is A Driveshaft Coupling ( They Are Made Of Rubber And Go Bad Easily If Boat Has Sat For A Long Time.

I believe that setup is direct drive with the engine sitting above the pump and there is a drive shaft like an out board engine with splines that go directly in to the crank ,, no coupler ,, if the drive splines are stripped it is a real expensive and time consuming thing to correct,, better hope it isn't the problem.
