Several years before the Gulf War, a female journalist did a story on gender roles in Kuwait. She noted that there it was customary for women to walk 10 feet behind their husbands.<br /> After the war, she returned to Kuwait and was pleased to observe that now the men walked 10 feet behind their wives. She approached a woman at the airport and asked, "What enabled Kuwaiti women to achieve this role reversal?"<br /> The Kuwaiti woman replied, "Land mines."

Funny, but almost not.....since it's probably true.

Re: Women in Kuwait

When we liberated Kuwait City, there was a very festive atmosphere in the city. Kuwaiti's were coming out of the woodwork like roaches to hug us and thank us.<br /><br />I saw a Kuwaiti woman, didn't have a burka (veil) on her head, and she was the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen in my life. A smile and eyes that would stop traffic. A face that is burned into my memory forever :)
