I called the guy to tell him I was going to rebuild mine and not buy his powerhead and he told me to let him know when I need parts and I asked him if he sold Wiseco. He said he carries WSM and that Chryslers/Force "dont like
forged pistons. Ive never heard of wsm and never heard anyone say dont put a wiseco in a chrysler/force. Mabye this guys talking out of his a** again lol! but it did make me stop and think. I was looking forward to wiseco because i read the pins are easier to install. Opinions please!!!

Is it true that the pin is easier to install or did you have to press it in like the original setup?

Re: Wiseco pistons (4cyl to 3cyl follow-up)

How can a FORGED piston be worse than the weaker cast one? Chrysler and Force don't like them? Coulda fooled me! I have heard the argument that Wiseco is no good and the mechanic has a barrel of bad ones for scrap. For that argument, leave the "S" off the last word! Fact is, if an engine runs lean for whatever reason, NO PISTON will stand up to the heat and overpressure. Any brand will fail.

Wiseco pistons are the only ones I use, even though they tend to be a bit more expensive -- primarily because they are easier to install, but I also feel in this case you get what you pay for. (I know, ending a sentence with a preposition--bad grammar, but common usage)

I have a couple of Chrysler and Force engines with hundreds of hours on their Wiseco pistons with no problems.

Pistons are like TCW 3 oil, gasoline stabilizers, and transom savers: Start a thread and everyone will have a different opinion.

Re: Wiseco pistons (4cyl to 3cyl follow-up)

The Wisco pistons are soft( we call em butter pistons) and until they go thru several heat/cool cycles the chances for a cold scuff/seize are highly possible if not broken in properly. The newer Wiseco pistons are no different as they have a anodized finish(greenish tint) on them the same as the Vertex piston, why??? its cheaper to anodize than moly coat them. I myself do not use them(Wiseco) in a customers engine unless its a "have to" case and I will bore & break in engine myself if used. The WSM is a great piston, easy to install, moly coated for break-in and cheaper than a Wiseco. A lot of DIYer's use the Wiseco in a worn bores as they have plenty of clearance to run and it will get em thru a couple of seasons till they can properly repair or trade... The WSM will be $70-75 ea
