Wiring

Have a 40hp, 1987 Tohatsu, model M40C. Friend took wiring harness loose when transfering to other boat, he moved. I pluged in all the wires back in yellow to yellow etc.....Engine will not turn over....There is two other wires that red and black that hook to bat approx. 8 gauge that I do not know where to hook to on engine....i asume the black is ground....the other i do not knw where to hook to....tried hooking to starter touch it and starter starts to turn over. One over question where on engine do i hook up tach signal wire.

Should be a wire from a solenoid to the starter. Battery wire would go to opposite post. Is that CDI or points?

Thanks Red<br />Yep the put + on other side and it turned over. Has CDI...You know which wire is for the Tach sig.<br />Tom
