This is a 1989 50 hp Force. I'm trying to wire an overheat alarm in . I bought a piezo siren from Radio shack. I have the ground hooked up to the term. block with the brown wire coming from the overheat sensor. I'm assuming that this goes to ground when it overheats. I was looking for switched 12v on the term. block, but can only find a constant 12V. Is this normal ??? I'm selling the boat tomorrow to a young guy and sure would like him to know if it ever overheats before he cooks the motor. It would also be nice to be able to shut it off with the key switch since it is so darn loud !!!

Wire one terminal of the alarm to the I or A terminal on the keyswitch. Wire the other terminal on the alarm to the overheat sensor on the motor. Don't connect the overheat sensor terminal to ground.

The alarm should have 12v+ anytime the key is on. The overheat sensor grounds it when it's tripped and completes the circuit.
