Looking to wire hr. meter to run only while engine is running. Not just when switch is "on"
I remember something on a forum about running it to oil sender/gauge. Can anyone help with specifics?
Thanks

You would need a Normally Open oil pressure SWITCH, not sender. With a PSI of around 5 psi that closes the switch.
Hook a purple wire to one side of the switch and the other to the + terminal on the hour meter.

But why would you want to go to all the trouble? There is no reason for that kind of accuracy. It's more for the maintenance schedule than anything else, and 5 or 10 hours one way or the other isn't going to make any difference.

And,........

Why would you want the key "On",........ Without the Motor Running....??......??......??....
That turns "On" more than Just the motor,+ the Radio...............
That's what "Acc" is for.........

Powering the Hourmeter with the Electric Fuelpump Circuit,.. If so Equiped,... Will do Exactly what Don explained........
